Read this aloud:

On a cold morning, Leo breathed out and saw a little cloud float from his mouth. In the kitchen, a cloud puffed out of the kettle. In the sky, big white clouds drifted over the house. "Are they all the same thing?" Leo wondered. "And what are clouds made of, anyway?" Your job: make a real cloud in a jar, and find out what a cloud needs.

Jobs:

  • One child does everything, with you helping.
  • Two children: the Spotter (shines the flashlight and watches for the cloud) and the Recorder (draws what happens in each jar).
  • Three children: add a Timer, who counts the seconds until a cloud appears.
