Can't find what you need? Email us and a person will reply.
Are the lessons really free?
Yes. Every lesson is free for teachers and home educators, and that will stay true as we add slides and student sheets. We plan to earn money from ready-to-go materials kits and school support, not from the lessons.
Which curriculum do you follow?
Alberta's new K–6 science curriculum, starting with Grades 4 to 6. Each unit quotes the learning outcome it covers. Alberta doesn't publish outcome codes, so we don't invent them.
What do I need to teach a lesson?
The lesson page and everyday materials. Each lesson lists what to gather and roughly what it costs. Most lessons need things you can find at a dollar store or in the staff room.
Do my students need devices or accounts?
No. Students don't sign up for anything, and we never collect student information. A few lessons have an optional extension with a temperature logger, but you never need one.
Is there a French version?
Not yet. French versions of every lesson are planned for 2027, starting with the pilot unit.
Can I use the lessons with my home-education student?
Yes. Every lesson works at a kitchen table. When materials kits launch, receipts will list each item, which helps with reimbursement. Your supervising school authority decides what's eligible.
Who writes the lessons?
Fieldbook is a small team in Calgary. Every lesson is reviewed by a practising Alberta teacher and taught in a real class before we mark it as tested. Until then you'll see a Pilot or Coming label on it.
How can my school get involved?
Join the January 2027 pilot, or tell us which unit you'd most like next. Pilot teachers get the materials for free and shape what we build.
