Hands-on science your teachers can run anywhere.
Fieldbook lessons are printable, in English, built from everyday materials, and aligned to the curricula international schools teach: NGSS, AERO and the Common Core, with Cambridge mapping on request and units that fit IB PYP inquiry. No apps, no student accounts, nothing to install.
Why international schools use Fieldbook
Your curriculum, named
Every unit lists the NGSS, AERO and Common Core outcomes it teaches. For Cambridge Primary and Lower Secondary schools we map units to your stage objectives on request. IB PYP schools use units as ready-made inquiries.
Written for English learners too
Short sentences, bold key words, a word wall for every unit and a picture on every reading page. Each lesson starts with a real question students can see and test.
Easy to approve
Printable PDFs only: no student data, no apps, no plug-ins, so there is little for IT or data-protection review: our data protection terms cover it. Materials are everyday items you can buy anywhere, in metric.
Find your year group
Our units are labelled by US grade. Use the row that matches your students' age at the start of the school year.
| Age | US grade | English year | Cambridge | IB |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5–6 | Kindergarten | Year 1 | Primary Stage 1 | PYP |
| 6–7 | Grade 1 | Year 2 | Primary Stage 2 | PYP |
| 7–8 | Grade 2 | Year 3 | Primary Stage 3 | PYP |
| 8–9 | Grade 3 | Year 4 | Primary Stage 4 | PYP |
| 9–10 | Grade 4 | Year 5 | Primary Stage 5 | PYP |
| 10–11 | Grade 5 | Year 6 | Primary Stage 6 | PYP (exhibition year) |
| 11–12 | Grade 6 | Year 7 | Lower Secondary Stage 7 | MYP 1 |
| 12–13 | Grade 7 | Year 8 | Lower Secondary Stage 8 | MYP 2 |
| 13–14 | Grade 8 | Year 9 | Lower Secondary Stage 9 | MYP 3 |
So a Year 5 or Cambridge Stage 5 class uses our Grade 4 units. Entry ages differ a little between countries; your curriculum coordinator will know where your classes sit. See every unit on one grid by strand and grade.
Units by PYP transdisciplinary theme
Where each unit usually sits in a programme of inquiry. Your own programme decides, and many units can serve more than one theme.

Licences for international schools
School licence: US$899 per school, per year. Every lesson and every unit workbook for up to 40 named teachers, including new units released during the year.
Small team: US$329 per year for up to 5 teachers, for a science department or a grade team.
Groups of schools: priced per school and lower as you add schools. Tell us how many campuses and countries.
Paying from outside North America: pay by card in US dollars, at checkout or from an invoice we email you. Ask for a pro-forma invoice if your school needs one first. We can't take bank transfers from outside Canada yet. We issue invoices from ZalaStack Inc., a Canadian corporation, and accept purchase orders. Our supplier sheet, licence agreement, data protection terms (including EU and UK transfer clauses) and safeguarding statement are on purchasing and compliance.
Try it first: read a complete sample lesson with no sign-in, or open a free account and download any three lessons.

Questions from international schools
Do you sell to schools outside North America?
Yes. The lessons are PDFs, so there is nothing to ship. Pay by card in US dollars, at checkout or from an invoice we email you (ask for a pro-forma invoice if your school needs one first). We can't take bank transfers from outside Canada yet. Invoices come from ZalaStack Inc., a Canadian company, and we accept purchase orders.
Is any tax added to the invoice?
No Canadian tax is added for schools outside Canada. If your country taxes imported services, for example VAT by reverse charge or a withholding tax, your finance office handles it the usual way.
We teach the British or Cambridge curriculum. Which units fit our Year 5?
Year 5 and Cambridge Primary Stage 5 are the same age as US Grade 4 (ages 9 to 10), so start with our Grade 4 units. The table on the International schools page lists every year group, and we map units to Cambridge stage objectives on request.
Does Fieldbook work in an IB PYP school?
Yes, as the science inside a unit of inquiry. Every unit starts from a real question students can test, and the International schools page shows which transdisciplinary theme each unit usually fits.
Our school is in a hot country. Do the lessons still work?
Almost all of them. Materials are everyday items, measured in metric. The two winter units need snow or a freezer, and a few lessons open with a Canadian example such as winter weather; teachers swap in a local example or skip those.
