The Ten-Minute Math Habit: Why Little and Often Beats Long and Rare

By Fieldbook Learning

An hour of math on Sunday feels productive. Ten minutes every day works better. Short, spaced practice gives the brain time to forget a little and remember again, and that effort of remembering is what makes a skill stick.

A routine that fits a busy day

  • Same time, same place. After breakfast or before screen time. A habit tied to something that already happens is easier to keep.
  • Five questions to start. The free daily challenge gives five questions from five different skills at your child’s level, new every day, with a streak counter.
  • One skill to finish. If there’s time, practise one skill for five more minutes on the practice pages until its score climbs.
  • Stop while it’s going well. Ending on a right answer makes tomorrow easier to start.

What to do with mistakes

Every practice question explains the answer after a miss. Read it together. One mistake understood teaches more than ten right answers in a row.

Watching progress

My progress shows each skill’s score from 0 to 100 and badges for milestones. Mastered skills get a printable certificate, which is a good thing to put on the fridge.
