The Snail Race

Leo and Ana found two snails on the wet garden path. "Let's have a race!" said Leo. He named his snail Zoom. Ana named hers Pebble.

They drew a start line and a finish line with chalk. Zoom slid off fast, but then he stopped to eat a leaf. Pebble moved slowly, but she never stopped.

Leo cheered for Zoom, but Zoom kept eating. Pebble crept past him. Inch by inch, she crossed the chalk finish line.

"Pebble wins!" said Ana. Leo laughed. "Zoom was fast," he said, "but he was too hungry to win."
