Year 6 maths · Fieldbook Learning

Name ______________________ Date __________

Find the coordinate the two points share. The distance is the gap between their other coordinates, counted across zero when needed.

  1. Find the distance between (2, 1) and (2, 4).
  2. Find the distance between (4, 0) and (2, 0).
  3. Use absolute values to find how many units it is from (5, 3) to (5, 1).
  4. Use absolute values to find how many units it is from (0, 0) to (0, 1).
  5. How far apart are A(1, 8) and B(1, 11)? Give the distance in units.
  6. Use absolute values to find how many units it is from (1, 0) to (8, 0).
  7. Use absolute values to find how many units it is from (5, 0) to (6, 0).
  8. How far apart are C(7, 4) and D(7, 3)? Give the distance in units.
  9. How far apart are E(2, 11) and F(2, 4)? Give the distance in units.
  10. How far apart are P(8.5, 9) and Q(8.5, 5)? Give the distance in units.
  11. How far apart are M(12, 7.5) and N(12, 10.5)? Give the distance in units.

  16. Use absolute values to find how many units it is from (8, −5) to (8, −3).
  17. Use absolute values to find how many units it is from (−0.5, 10.5) to (10.5, 10.5).
  18. Use absolute values to find how many units it is from (−5, 4) to (6.5, 4).
  19. How far apart are P(7.5, −4.5) and Q(7.5, 6)? Give the distance in units.
