This pack is a mission-planning story in twelve printable pages. Children work out how far the Moon is, build a solar system to scale along a hallway, find how long light takes to cross space, compare ship speeds, track fuel with ratio tables and percent, and read big numbers with place value and powers of 10. They find the mean and median of mission data, read coordinates on a landing map, extend countdown number patterns and finish by designing a mission with the numbers they have built.
Every real distance and speed is rounded and marked “about”. Data for the ship, its fuel and the crew practice runs is invented for the story, and each page says so. Teacher notes give a plan, the materials list, ideas for children who need more support or a stretch, and the exact standards each page practices.
Inside: teacher notes, ten children’s pages, an 8-question check-up and a worked answer key. Print in black and white on any printer. The free sample is the teacher notes and the Hallway Solar System page.
