Freezing cold places are hard to live in, yet both the walrus and the moose manage it. They solve the same problem in different ways.
The walrus lives in the icy seas of the Arctic. It is up to 3.5 meters long. It has long tusks, which help it pull its heavy body onto the ice. It is a carnivore and eats clams, snails and worms.
The moose, on the other hand, lives in the northern forests of Canada, the northern United States and Alaska. It is up to about 2 meters tall at the shoulder. It has very long legs, which let it walk through deep snow and wade into lakes. It is a herbivore and eats willow twigs, birch bark and water plants.
Both animals show that there is more than one way to survive in a freezing cold place.
