Where does rain come from?

Students tape a zip-top bag of blue water to a sunny window and another to a shady wall, and catch a cold cup 'sweating' in the room. They follow the water from the bottom of the bag to the clear drops at the top, and explain how the Sun, air and clouds bring rain back down.

Read this to the class:

After a summer storm, the schoolyard is full of puddles. By lunch the next day, they've all gone. A Grade 4 student asks her grandpa where the water went. He says, "Up into the clouds, and one day it'll rain on us again." She isn't sure. How could a puddle get all the way up to a cloud? Your team's job: catch water on its way from a puddle to the sky, and back down again.

Teams of three, with three jobs that rotate between the two activities: Builder (handles the bag or cup), Observer (looks closely and reports), Recorder (writes and draws).
