The arctic fox is a mammal. It lives in the cold, treeless Arctic tundra. This place is freezing cold.
The arctic fox eats lemmings, bird eggs and berries. It listens for lemmings under the snow, then leaps up and dives in headfirst to catch them.
The arctic fox has fur that turns white in winter and brown in summer. This helps it blend in with snow or with rocks and plants. It is about 55 centimeters long, not counting its tail.
Baby arctic foxes are called kits. A family may raise more than ten kits in one underground den.
