Alexander Graham Bell: a Life in Science

Alexander Graham Bell was born in 1847 in Edinburgh, Scotland. Today he is remembered for inventing the telephone.

Bell was dedicated. His mother and wife were deaf, and he spent his life studying sound and teaching deaf students.

In 1870, Bell moved with his parents to Canada. Then, in 1871, Bell began teaching deaf students in Boston.

Later, in 1876, Bell received a patent for the telephone. Then, in 1888, Bell helped start the National Geographic Society. (Patent: a legal document that says an invention belongs to the person who made it.)

Bell died in 1922. The telephone changed how people around the world talk to each other.
