The springbok is a mammal. It lives in the dry grasslands and deserts of southern Africa. This place is hot and dry.
The springbok eats grasses, shrubs and succulent leaves. It bounces straight up with stiff legs, called pronking, to show predators it is too fit to catch.
The springbok has long, springy legs. These let it run fast and leap high to escape predators. It is about 80 centimeters tall at the shoulder.
