Your Muscles

Your muscles are part of your muscular system. Their job is simple but important: they move your body.

Muscles can only pull, not push, so they work in pairs: one pulls a bone one way and its partner pulls it back. Every move you make, from blinking to jumping, needs a muscle to pull on something.

Your body has more than 600 muscles. (Tendon: a strong cord that joins a muscle to a bone.)

Stretching and active play keep muscles strong and flexible.
