Deep and salty places are hard to live in, yet both the great white shark and the octopus manage it. They solve the same problem in different ways.
The great white shark lives in cool coastal waters in oceans around the world. It is up to 6 meters long. It has rows of sharp, jagged teeth that are replaced when they fall out, which let it grab and tear its prey. It is a carnivore and eats seals, sea lions and fish.
The octopus, on the other hand, lives in oceans around the world, from shallow reefs to the deep sea. It is from a few centimeters to several meters across, depending on the kind. It has eight arms covered in suckers, which grip rocks and pry open shells. It is a carnivore and eats crabs, shrimp and clams.
Both animals show that there is more than one way to survive in a deep and salty place.
