Warm and rainy places are hard to live in, yet both the red-eyed tree frog and the chameleon manage it. They solve the same problem in different ways.
The red-eyed tree frog lives in the warm, wet rainforests of Central America. It is about 7 centimeters long. It has sticky pads on its toes, which let it cling to leaves and branches. It is a carnivore and eats crickets, moths and flies.
The chameleon, by contrast, lives in warm forests in Africa and Madagascar. It is from 2 centimeters to about 70 centimeters long, depending on the kind. It has a sticky tongue that can be longer than its body, which shoots out to catch insects in a fraction of a second. It is a carnivore and eats crickets, grasshoppers and flies.
Both animals show that there is more than one way to survive in a warm and rainy place.
