Earth and Space Science: Water Systems on Earth
ESS1 Analyse the global distribution of water and its impact on local environments; the indicators include proposing a plan of action to reduce personal water consumption (partial: the dripping tap).
ESS2 Use the design process to demonstrate how water movement shapes our landscape, including a prototype to prevent erosion caused by water (a later-grade match: the hillside lesson).
Life Science: Cells, Tissues, Organs and Systems
LS1 Identify and describe the structure and functions of cells within living things (an adjacent-grade match).
Lessons: Cells: The Smallest Living Things
Physical Science: Fluids
PS2 Compare the density of various substances qualitatively and quantitatively (an early start for the ice-floats lesson).
Lessons: Solids, Liquids and Gases (Where does a puddle go?, Why does ice float?)
Physical Science: Optics
PS5 Examine the properties and behaviour of visible light (a later-grade match: the rainbow lesson).
Lessons: Earth and Sky at Home (Where do rainbows come from?, How do crystals grow?, How does a cloud form?)
PS7 Explain how human vision works, including ways of correcting or extending human vision (a later-grade, partial match: two eyes and the blind spot).
