Life Science: Plant Growth and Changes
100-29 Identify and investigate life needs of plants and describe how plants are affected by the conditions in which they grow (an adjacent-grade match).
Lessons: Plants and Seeds: What Does a Seed Need? (What's inside a seed?, What does a seed need to grow?, Why do plants grow toward the window?)
100-30 Observe and describe changes that occur through the life cycle of a flowering plant (partial).
Lessons: Plants and Seeds: What Does a Seed Need? (What's inside a seed?, What does a seed need to grow?, Why do plants grow toward the window?)
Physical Science: Magnetism and Static Electricity
100-31 Investigate to identify materials that can be magnetized and materials that are attracted by magnets, and distinguish these from materials that are not affected by magnets.
Lessons: Pushes, Pulls and Magnets (Why does a ball stop rolling?, Can a magnet work through a table?, How far will a paper clip jump?)
100-33 Identify conditions that affect the force of magnets (distance and the number of magnets).
Lessons: Pushes, Pulls and Magnets (Why does a ball stop rolling?, Can a magnet work through a table?, How far will a paper clip jump?)
Earth Science: Soils
100-39 Observe and describe the effects of moving water on different soils (a lower-grade match: stream table and runoff).
Physical Science: Building Things
101-9 Test the strength and stability of personally built structures, and identify ways of modifying a structure to increase its strength (a lower-grade match: improving the egg protector).
Lessons: Build It, Launch It (Can you drop an egg without breaking it?, What makes a paper plane fly farthest?, How does a rocket push itself into space?)
