Free money and life skills tools
5 free tools for the everyday math and skills students use outside school: money, saving, measuring and staying calm.
Life skills tools starting in grades K–2

Corner Store
Ring up a pretend purchase, add sales tax and count back the change. Money practice with Canadian or US coins and bills.

Calm Breathing
A breathing guide for the projector: a shape grows and shrinks to pace box, belly or 4-7-8 breathing, with gentle counting and optional sound.

Feelings Check-In
Students pick how they feel from a colour-coded chart of feelings, then choose a calming or energising strategy that fits. Tally the class mood without names.

Measurement Converter
Convert length, mass, volume, temperature and time between metric and imperial units, with the working shown and a sense-of-size picture for each.

Savings Planner
Set a savings goal and see how long it takes, week by week. Compare saving in a jar with earning simple or compound interest.
Real-world math
Students take math more seriously when they can see where they will use it. Counting change at a pretend store, working out how many weeks it takes to save for something, and converting a recipe or a road sign between units all practise the same skills as a worksheet, with a reason attached.
