Nova Scotia Science curriculum. Every lesson comes with a printable teacher guide and student sheet.
Physical Science: Motion
Outcome Learners will test motion of objects, including factors that affect motion and designing a fair test (a lower-grade match: paper plane and balloon rocket tests).
Lessons: Build It, Launch It (Can you drop an egg without breaking it?, What makes a paper plane fly farthest?, How does a rocket push itself into space?)
Outcome Learners will test motion of objects and the factors that affect motion (a lower-grade match: ball and ramp lesson).
Lessons: Pushes, Pulls and Magnets (Why does a ball stop rolling?, Can a magnet work through a table?, How far will a paper clip jump?)
Physical Science: Liquids, solids and mixtures
Outcome Learners will investigate liquids, solids, and mixtures, including various combinations of liquids and solids (a lower-grade match: the crystal solutions).
Lessons: Earth and Sky at Home (Where do rainbows come from?, How do crystals grow?, How does a cloud form?)
Outcome Learners will investigate liquids, solids, and mixtures, including properties of liquids and solids and combinations of the two (a lower-grade match: lava lamp and oobleck).
Lessons: Kitchen Chemistry for Families
Outcome Learners will investigate states of matter and the properties of liquids and solids (a lower-grade match: frost, ice and salt).
Lessons: Winter Science at Home (Can you make frost in a can?, Why does salt melt ice?, What's inside a snowflake?)
Outcome Learners will investigate states of matter (a lower-grade match).
Lessons: Solids, Liquids and Gases (Where does a puddle go?, Why does ice float?)
Earth and Space Science: Air and water
Outcome Learners will analyse the interconnectiveness of air and water in the environment, with multiple opportunities to collect, record and analyse data (partial: rain gauge records).
Lessons: Weather Watchers: What Will the Sky Do Today? (What's the weather like today?, Which way is the wind blowing?, How much rain fell?)
