Texas Grade 7 science standards
The Grade 7 science outcomes we teach, in the standards's own words, with the lessons and practice pages for each. Pick an outcome code for the full list of lessons and printables.
Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Science. Every lesson comes with a printable teacher guide and student sheet.
Matter and energy
7.6(C) Distinguish between physical and chemical changes in matter.
Lessons: Kitchen Chemistry (Is it a new substance?, Where does the mass go?, Can red cabbage tell acid from base?)
Practice: Kitchen Chemistry workbook
Force, motion, and energy
7.7(A) Calculate average speed using distance and time measurements from investigations (a lower-grade match).
7.7(C) Measure, record, and interpret an object's motion using distance-time graphs (a lower-grade match).
7.7(D) Analyze the effect of balanced and unbalanced forces on the state of motion of an object using Newton's First Law of Motion (a lower-grade match: card-and-coin inertia).
7.8(A) Investigate methods of thermal energy transfer into and out of systems (an early, partial start: the ice cube keeper slows heat moving in).
Lessons: Hot and Cold: Particles on the Move
Practice: Hot and Cold: Particles on the Move workbook · Hot Stuff: Heat, Temperature and Cooling workbook · Steppe Science: Staying Warm on the Kazakh Steppe workbook
7.8(C) Explain the relationship between temperature and the kinetic energy of the particles within a substance (an early start on a Grade 7 outcome).
Lessons: Hot and Cold: Particles on the Move
