Number and operations
6.2(B) Identify a number, its opposite, and its absolute value.
Lessons: Below Zero: Integers in the Real World (How cold can ice get?, Which is further from sea level?)
6.2(C) Locate, compare, and order integers and rational numbers using a number line.
Lessons: Below Zero: Integers in the Real World (How cold can ice get?, Which is further from sea level?)
6.3(C) Represent integer operations with concrete models and connect the actions with the models to standardized algorithms.
Lessons: Below Zero: Integers in the Real World (How much did the temperature change?, Are we in the red?)
6.3(D) Add, subtract, multiply, and divide integers fluently (addition and subtraction in this unit).
Lessons: Below Zero: Integers in the Real World (How much did the temperature change?, Are we in the red?) (partly)
Proportionality
6.4(B) Apply qualitative and quantitative reasoning to solve prediction and comparison of real-world problems involving ratios and rates.
Lessons: Mix It, Pace It: Ratio, Rate and Percent (Who walks fastest?, Which is the better deal?)
Practice: Mix It, Pace It: Ratio, Rate and Percent workbook · Grade 5 Common Core Math: Number and Operations
6.4(C) Give examples of ratios as multiplicative comparisons of two quantities describing the same attribute.
Lessons: Mix It, Pace It: Ratio, Rate and Percent (Why doesn't the big batch match?)
6.4(D) Give examples of rates as the comparison by division of two quantities having different attributes, including rates as quotients.
Lessons: Mix It, Pace It: Ratio, Rate and Percent (Who walks fastest?)
6.4(E) Represent ratios and percents with concrete models, fractions and decimals.
Lessons: Mix It, Pace It: Ratio, Rate and Percent (Why doesn't the big batch match?, Which is the better deal?)
6.4(G) Generate equivalent forms of fractions, decimals and percents using real-world problems, including problems that involve money.
Lessons: Mix It, Pace It: Ratio, Rate and Percent (Which is the better deal?)
6.4(H) Convert units within a measurement system, including the use of proportions and unit rates.
Lessons: Mix It, Pace It: Ratio, Rate and Percent (Who walks fastest?)
6.5(A) Represent mathematical and real-world problems involving ratios and rates using scale factors, tables, graphs and proportions.
Lessons: Mix It, Pace It: Ratio, Rate and Percent (Why doesn't the big batch match?, Does twice the time mean twice the distance?)
6.5(B) Solve real-world problems to find the whole given a part and the percent, the part given the whole and the percent, and the percent given the part and the whole.
Lessons: Mix It, Pace It: Ratio, Rate and Percent (Which is the better deal?)
Measurement and data
6.12(C) Summarize numeric data with numerical summaries, including the mean and median (measures of center) and the range (a measure of spread). Mean, median and range of catch distances; this is an early start on a Grade 6 outcome, and the interquartile range is not covered.
Lessons: Measure It: Length, Time and Mass in the Real World · Data Detectives (How fast are our reaction times?, Which graph tells the truth?, Do taller people have bigger hands?)
