Reading skill
Cause and effect
Look for why something happened (the cause) and what happened because of it (the effect). Words like because, so and which can signal it.
Example (How Bees Make Honey, Grade 2)
Why do bees fan the nectar with their wings?
Answer: to dry out the water. "The moving air dries out the water, and the nectar turns thick and sticky."
